Producer-Director-Writer, Gayla Jamison, has produced documentaries and documentary series filmed in 17 countries on five continents for more than 20 years. Her work focuses on human rights, gender issues, culture and peace and justice. Her films have appeared on PBS, The Hallmark Channel, Turner Broadcasting, ABC, NBC, The Learning Channel, WGBH-TV, Univisión and Galavisión, garnering awards at the Chicago International Film Festival and USA Film Festival, and screenings at the United Nations, Amnesty International Film Festival-Amsterdam, International Film Festival-Leipzig, and Festival of Latin American Cinema-Havana. Jamison’s projects include Producer-Director-Writer for “Scraps of Life,” about women with family among the detained-disappeared during the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile, which aired on PBS and won a Golden Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. She was Supervising and Episodic Producer for the documentary series, “My Americas,” (“Caminante” in Spanish) a 13-part cultural and spiritual journey through Latin America, which received a Gabriel Award and aired on public television in English and Galavisión in Spanish. She was Producer-Director-Writer for “Lives for Sale,” a documentary for Maryknoll about sex trafficking among undocumented immigrants, which aired on The Hallmark Channel and public television. Her latest film, “Cheating the Stillness: The World of Julia Peterkin,” will air on public television in spring 2010. |
| Editor, Ellen Goldwasser, has two Academy Award documentary nominations to her credit, for “Artists and Orphans” (about street orphans and an international art exhibition in Tiblisi, Georgia) and “Speaking in Strings,” (about the celebrated violinist, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg) which was shown at the Sundance Festival. Her most recent work is for “Standing Silent” (previously titled “The Evil Tongue”), produced by Scott Rosenfelt, which received a Sundance Documentary Fund grant in 2008. She has also been editor for a number of specials for Turner Broadcasting, including “Private Screenings: James Garner,” and Bravo, including “Billy Bob Thornton,” and “Hammer From the Heart.” Other recently released documentaries include “Mule Skinner Blues,” which aired on the Sundance Channel, “Source of Pride: The Making of "Pride and Glory" and "Anatomy of Hate." |
| Director of Photography, Arthur Yee, has filmed documentaries for PBS (“Aging Out,” Roger Wiseberg and Academy Award winner Vanessa Roth, Producers, about the foster care system), AMC (“Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood”), and A&E (“Intervention,” a series about addiction), as well as National Geographic, Discovery, NBC, FOX, HGTV, MSNBC, VH1, and The History Channel. |
| Graphics team, Sabotage Film Group, has produced award-winning graphics and trailers for Turner Classic Movies (TCM), HBO and Sci-Fi channels, as well as music videos for artists such as John Mellancamp and Catpower. Recently Sabotage completed graphic and design for the award winning documentary, "The Anatomy of Hate," and the soon-to-be released "Standing Silent." |
| Consultant Elizabeth Beck is Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Georgia State University. Her work has been in the areas of community practice and forensic social work and is currently examining restorative justice in a community context. She has consulted on numerous capital cases and has been asked to serve as an expert in state and federal cases. She conducts training courses for capital defense lawyers in several states, at the national level and for the federal system. She is presently on the board of the Alternative Sentencing and Mitigation Institute, Inc. She is co-author of In the Shadow of Death: Restorative Justice and Death Row Families published by Oxford University Press USA. |
Consultant Adrian Helenek is an attorney and Defense-Initiated Victim Outreach Specialist, experienced in addressing the needs of victims and their families throughout the legal process by providing a link between survivors and the defense, especially in capital cases. She serves as a mediator with the Supreme Court of Georgia and as a facilitator in restorative justice training in Mexico and South America. |
